UVA ‘Speed of Light’ installation

UVA ‘Speed of Light’ installation

Commissioned by Virgin Media, United Visual Artists created Speed of Light to celebrate 10 years of broadband internet in the UK. For 10 days in April, this installation will take over all four storeys of the industrial art-space Bargehouse. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in a massive network of laser sculptures, built on the idea of speed being light, and light being data.

The title Speed of Light describes how information and data is channelled within fibre optic broadband cables through the medium of light. It is this process that enables us to communicate and interact at such speed, as well as representing the pinnacle of mankinds efforts to understand and manipulate light.

Bargehouse is a raw, industrial space, at the heart of Londons South Bank.
