A very good piece of info­tain­ment by one of the most promis­ing doc­u­men­tarists – Erik Gan­dini. In his ear­lier film, a col­lab­o­ra­tion with Tarik Saleh (‘Metropia’), he revealed who really betrayed Che Gue­vara by con­duct­ing the inves­ti­ga­tion along the link that strangely appeared in his neigh­bor­hood in Swe­den. ‘Sur­plus’ is no less seri­ous in con­tent, but the mak­ers have cho­sen to present it in an easy, jam­ming way. Edit­ing by Johan Soder­berg and the pres­ence of Kalle Lasn (‘Adbusters’) could almost stand for an expla­na­tion of the movie’s con­cept. Five parts, ± 50 minutes.
